This story based on our experiences to what we have seen and to what happened to us and to others during our time with Orangutan at Tanjung Puting National Park Central Kalimantan. some are funnies, some are sad, same are romantic and some is horoble .
From deep of our heart, we are very sorry if one of our article below is your experience. Nothing meaning but just to give red light for other peoples who want to get really close to the orangutan without ranger or guide stay around them.
He was 12 years old at that time, known as trouble maker but everyone love him. He stay around human lot. he was stay with other ex captive in tanjung harapan rehabilitation center at the first time he took from the people who looked after him. When the second station built, together with his gank ( Jacky and Anhar ) moved to Pondok tanggui. Here, he got more active. He got a lot trick to do everything to human being and to other orangutan. But today we can not see him anymore. it started when elegant logging in 2000, from that time we never saw Gistok anymore, Hopefully he went to the wild.
It was early in the morning, last night we parked the boat near pondok tanggui pear where gistok and his gank was. I got out from the boat to the jetty and from a distance I saw Gistok and his friend Jacky and Anhar walking down to the boat. As usually we welcomed Gistok, he is really playful and I thought he already knew me very well as I know him very well too. I set down not far from him. On few second he grab my hand and I thought that is just a like shake hand but not quite long time he grab my other hand and at the same time his both legs also grab my legs until I can not move anywhere. He stand up right on the front of my face and really close, finally I realized that he does something to me. He move his body right and left while scratched his penis on my leg.... imagine my embarrassment when he did it to me, Everyone on the boat is lounging to me without try to help... but thank god He did it only for few second then he climb on the tree.
One day, we parked at second station pondok tanggui for the night, the boat was full, two of us had to sleep in engine room, the engine room is also as the kitchen room. make the story short.... i woke up in the middle of the night because I hear some one open the back door but I did not see very clear whose comes in, it was dark. I thought the captain took something from the kitchen until i find out someone sit on the front door while having something. He knocked and eat it... knock and eat it, it happen until few minutes. i woke up and took flashlight... for few second I was shock with I saw.. I didn't believe with what I see, Gistok is sitting at the front of kitchen door while enjoying a bucket of egg.... when he knows i woken up he run and out from the boat. I was realized that Gistok took something else from the boat. Our cook didn't find the uncooked rice. Rice and eggs is gone.........
